Hot Horses & Handicapping Tips

Let's Start Winning!

HOT HORSE WATCH LIST
Our "Hot Horses" are supplied by handicappers, clockers, owners, trainers, racetrack "junkies" and others throughout the Thoroughbred industry. Horses identified are expected to run well in their next starts. Hot Horse followers should apply their own handicapping expertise to consider the competition these horses face and if they represent a good wagering investment. Hot Horses are shared with Louisville Thoroughbred Club members and friends via Facebook. "Select Hot Horses" are shared exclusively by email with Louisville Thoroughbred Club members.

Louisville Thoroughbred Club Introduces
PROFIT PLAY INVESTMENT CLUBS
Profit Play Investment Clubs are similar to investment clubs that invest in stocks, except that Profit Play Clubs invest in Thoroughbred racing wagers. In Profit Play Clubs wagers are made by skilled handicappers (Fund Mangers) who follow specific guidelines about which races to play, which horses to select, and how much to wager.
Over time, the Thoroughbred Club plans to offer a variety of Profit Play Clubs. Each Club will follow a specific Profit Play strategy with specific investment objectives that involve different levels of risk and potential reward.
Our first Club focuses on place and show wagers. Its goal is to achieve an investment return of at least 10% per month. Clubs with more aggressive goals and higher levels of risk will be offered in the future.
The minimum investment in any single Investment Club is $25 and the maximum is $250. Investments must be in increments of $25.
Each Profit Play Investment Club has a specific starting and ending date and operates for a specific term, i.e. 3 month, 6 months, etc. Investments in the Clubs must be made prior to the start date of the Club and additional investments cannot be accepted after the Investment Club’s start date. At the end of Investment Club term, all proceeds are distributed to Club participants in proportion to their investment.
Participants may withdraw from the Club at the end of any Calendar month and receive their proportionate share of the Club Fund at that time. Withdrawal requests must be received at least three days prior to the last day of the month.
Place/Show Insurance Investment Club (PSIC)
Our first Investment Club, the Place/Show Insurance Investment Club (PSIC) will operate for a period of three calendar months beginning September 2008. The goal of this Club is to achieve an average return of 10% per month over the three months that the Club will operate. The fund will invest exclusively in place and show wagers in longer sprint and distance races with expected contentious pace scenarios. Horses with a “closer” running style going off at moderate odds will be featured. The amount invested on selected horses will be a variable percentage of the overall Club pool based on the horse’s odds. The amount bet for show is three times the place the place wager.
This Investment strategy has been successfully tested in several test studies by a variety of handicappers. While it is a conservative strategy anyone participating in the Investment Club should understand the inherent risks of horse racing investments and be prepared to lose all or a substantial portion of their investment.
Distributions – All PSIC funds will be distributed following the close of the PSIC term, November 30, 2008. Participants may receive early distributions by request, at the end of September or October. Early distribution requests must be received at least three days prior to the end of the calendar month in which the distribution is requested. Distribution requests may be made by email and each request will be confirmed by a returned email message.
Profit Play Fund Managers – Each Profit Play Club Fund has a minimum of two Fund managers and a maximum of three. The Fund Managers work together to determine which Thoroughbred racing investments will be made, when they will be made, and the amount of each investment. In making investment decisions, Fund managers must follow Profit Play Club guidelines. The Place/Show Profit Play guidelines restrict investments to place and show wagers, on specific types of races, with specific conditions. The guidelines also specify minimum and maximum amounts that may be wagered. The Place/Show Insurance Investment Club Fund Managers are Michael Vito from Chicago, and Lisa Fleming and Brett Landow from Louisville. Mike Vito is serving as lead Fund Manager. The managers collaborate in determining which races and which horses to play, and the amount of each investment.
Profit Play Investment Club members are invited to provide input to Fund Managers about suggested races and horses for investment, however final decisions are made by the Fund Managers. Directions for how to provide input will be provided to Investment Club members.
The PSIC Fund Managers are Thoroughbred Club members who have demonstrated consistent success in handicapping and applying Profit Play guidelines. For the Place/Show Insurance Club, consistent success is defined as having produced a minimum 10% return on investment for a minimum of six consecutive weeks.
Fees/Expenses/Taxes
5% of profits in excess of a 10% return on investment will be donated to support the retirement of Thoroughbred Racing Nation horses.
Costs for the purchase of racing past performances used by Fund Managers may also be charged to the Investment Club.
Taxes on profits from Fund participation will be the individual responsibility of each Fund participant.
Communications
The total amount of the Investment Club’s assets will be reported by email at least once a week. Participants will also be advised of their ownership percentage of the total fund. Where feasible, planned Club investments will be sent by email to each participant in advance of the planned wager. The goal is to enable participants to follow and enjoy the races in which the Fund Managers make investments.
